Scratch that off the bucket list......

What a day. Had a wonderful breakfast ....can you say BACON??!!! Took the train 20 mins to Venice. From the moment I walked off the train, I was in awe. What a beautiful sight. We walked up and down the quaintest..is that a word?... Streets and alleys. Took a million pics to boot. Looked in a million ...ok not a million..shops and boutiques. We went to the Rialto bridge...yes, yes took pics which I will try to post tomorrow. Had a "snack" which of course included great wine in the Plazzo San Marco in the shadows of the Bascillica. What a sight. The bells rung...the pigeons were in abundance and we were in heaven. Now...I must admit, we have only been in Venice for about 13 hours...and on our 3rd meal. Scott has now had prosciutto at each one. Lord, help me. Then, had to it.... We took a 1 hr gondola ride. How relaxing. We traveled through the little canals and the Grand Canal. (Did you know there are 244 bridges in Venice??) No, the gondolier didn't sing...BUT he whistled the most amazing tunes and melodies. These men can maneuver these l-o-n-g boats within inches of other boats, walls and gondolas. A choreographed water ballet. Walked around the area more. Then.. Time for dinner and more wine!!! Found the cutest bistro where we started with a plate of "starters", which was bruschetta, caprese salad, and yes..you were waiting for it...more prosciutto. We got a bottle of wine to go with it all. I then ordered home made pasta with "red sauce", Scott had this amazing seafood platter to include 1/2 a lobster, a whole fish, calamari, a squid and potatoes. Well..it was a ton of food....had to help him with the lobster!! ;). After 2 hrs there, we waddled to the train station, and took the 20 min ride back to the hotel. Enjoying one last glass of wine in the lounge, and then heading to bed. End Day 1. Only 7 more to go!!
